PINK RIBBON: A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION IN MOTION
WHAT WE DID
Did you know that one in three cancer diagnoses can be avoided by a healthy and balanced lifestyle? By exercising at least 30 minutes a day, you are well on the right track. But research has shown that walking can also improve quality of life after breast cancer. That’s why Pink Ribbon, the national non-profit organization fighting against breast cancer, is specially committed to the walking aspect. Though various concrete projects, organized in collaboration with youEngine, Pink Ribbon aims to get people more walking in order to tell breast cancer to take a hike.
WHAT OUR CLIENT GOT
Pinky Pioneers
Together with Wandelsport Vlaanderen vzw, youEngine and Pink Ribbon prepares volunteers, fellow patients and sympathizers to become fantastic walking leaders. These so called ‘Pinky Pioneers’ have set up their own Pink Ribbon walking group. Once or twice a week, they go out together in the city or in nature to work on their own (mental) health and to support the fight against breast cancer. There are currently twenty Pinky Pioneers up and running and all these walking groups account for as many as 235 hikers in Flanders and some parts of Brussels.
The Pink Walk
The Pink Walk is not a typical walking event that takes place in one day. It is a commitment that lasts an entire month (May or October). How, when and where? That is totally up to the participants. You can participate individually, in teams or with your company. Participants sign up online via our platform, they enter their daily number of steps/ kilometers. The platform collects all the data and puts everything on leaderboards. This way, you can see how you, your team or your company is doing compared to others, other teams or other companies. youEngine and Pink Ribbon will sign this year for the 9th and 10th organization of The Pink Walk. We expect again 20,000 participants and about €350,000 income (registration fees & donations) for the good cause.
Walk for Pink Ribbon
On Whit Monday, youEngine & Pink Ribbon have organized the 2nd Walk for Pink Ribbon, a real life walking event in Maasmechelen with Wandelsport Vlaanderen vzw. Together they are committed to the fight against breast cancer because every step contributes to a healthier future. 1,765 participants have registered this year, have enjoyed together the beautficul architecture of the “cité” of Eisden-Tuinwijk and/or the unspoiled nature of the National Park Hoge Kempen and have raised €30,000 extra income for the good cause.
Pink Ribbon is a worldwide organization with local independent divisions. The Belgian branch operates in Wallonia and Flanders. It has as mission to reduce breast cancer and its consequences by encouraging prevention and early detection on the one hand, and working to improve the quality of life of individuals and their families facing the disease, both during and after the treatment, on the other hand. Pink Ribbon targets all the people who may be affected by breast cancer: patients and ex-patients, those close to them, healthcare providers and as many women and men possible.
