WHAT WE DID
On Whit Monday, the 20th of May, youEngine organized for its client Pink Ribbon the second live event “Walk for Pink Ribbon” at the National Park Hoge Kempen in Maasmechelen. After last year’s success, there was a renewed demand for a live event where walkers could meet in person. The event was organized to raise awareness around breast cancer, because 1 out 3 breast cancers can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle. Walking is low-threshold way to achieve that.
WHAT OUR CLIENT GOT
The event has grown significantly compared to its first edition last year. As many as 1,765 sporty enthusiasts found their way to Maasmechelen and took part in one of the five beautiful walks, so almost doubling last years participation figures. The routes offered a mix of the historic architecture of the Eisden-Tuinwijk mining town and the nature of the National Park Hoge Kempen. All the walkers started their tour with a nice cup of coffee or tea and at the end they were treated to a delicious piece of '“Limburgse Vlaai'“. Along the way, those who had chosen the 15 or 35 km also received some healthy snacks to give them energy.
The godmother of this event was Joke Emmers, a famous Belgian actress. She chose the 10 kilometers route. She lost her grandmother at the age of three to breast cancer, that is why she wanted to put her shoulders to the wheel with this event.
The event has raised €30.000 extra donations for the good cause, plus an awareness campaign of approx. €200.000 at less than 5% out-of-pocket cost.
